SUV-BUS crash in Madhya Pradesh: 11 death reported

The accident was reported at the Betul location. About 170 km from the state capital of Bhopal. 11 people demise when an empty bus clashed with an SUV in MP’s Betul. All of them traveled in the SUV. Out of 11, two children were killed, the news agency PTI reported.

According to the police, the 11 laborers returning home from Amravati in neighboring Maharashtra. And the accident occurred at around 2 am near Jhallar police station between Gudgaon and Bhainsdehi.

A case filed and the investigation is on. “Six males, three females, a girl aged around five years, and a toddler died on the spot in the accident that took place around 2 am,” SI Shivraj Singh Thakur told the news agency. According to initial information received, the driver of the SUV crashed an empty bus after he reportedly snapped off.

Visuals indicated massive injury to both vehicles in the collision.

Seven bodies were taken out immediately however the vehicle had to be cut to get the remaining bodies out, Betul senior police officer Simala Prasad said.

Further investigations are underway. The bodies were later sent for post-mortem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his consolations over the accident and announced a compensation of ₹ 2 lakh to each of the victims’ families.

PM Modi tweeted, “Pained by the loss of lives due to an accident in Betul, MP. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. ₹ 50,000 would be given to the injured,”.
