A Professional Car Racer KE Kumar died on Sunday in Chennai

A 57-year-old professional car racer died while competing in an event near Chennai. He lost control of his car, which collided with the barriers and flipped, which took his life. Recently, Kumar participated in the 36km IJTC car race conducted on a circuit at Irunagatukotai.

The race was red flagged and a professional car racer was transferred to a nearby hospital after a preliminary examination at the track’s medical center. 

Halfway through the race, Kumar lost control of his car, which crashed into the barriers and tumbled. Despite the best efforts of the hospital’s doctors, Kumar was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed due to his injuries.

The incident occurred when Kumar’s car came in contact with a competitor during the saloon cars race this morning. A car is slid across the track and landed on the roof after slamming into a fence.

Chairman of the Meet Vicky Chandhok said: It is a most unfortunate incident. Kumar was an experienced racer. I have known him for several decades as a friend and competitor. 

The MMSC and entire racing fraternity mourn his passing away and convey heartfelt condolences to his family.” Chandhok added that the national governing body for the sport FMSCI the organizers, MMSC, have launched an investigation into the incident.

Sriperumbudur Police then took Kumar’s body to a government hospital for an autopsy and launched an investigation into the crash. The exact moment of the accident was captured by a camera installed on the circuit, and the video has since gone viral.
